250 kmph top speed Volkswagen arrives in New Zealand
Volkswagen’s fastest ever car, the new Passat R36 with top speed of 250kph and powered by 220 kw (300 hp) 3.6 litre, six cylinder direct injection petrol engine is now on sale in New Zealand The top speed is electronically regulated. It outstrips all Volkswagen cars in accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph. Its power transmission is handled by direct shift gear box and 4-wheel four motion drive. The performance enhancement is the contribution of 25mm sports suspension system.
Design of the new Passat R36 was conceived by the giant automaker’s specialist vehicles division the “Volkswagen Individual”. Specific features like the front bumper with grille in a matte chrome finish, and the dual fins of the upper radiator grille make the new Passat R36 the most dynamic model. Newly designed 18-inch “Omanyt” alloy wheels, body coloured wheel arch extensions and the signature blue painted brake callipers are some of the few key features added into the design.
Volkswagen added special touches to the interior equipment. The pedals are given a stainless steel finish. Passat R36 will be equipped with sport seating system with electric 12-way adjustment. Rear seats are provided with a sport seating system which includes seat heating.
Dean Sheed, General Manager for Volkswagen New Zealand claims that the Passat R36 has the DNA of a sports car. Fuel consumption of 10.5L/100km and CO2 emission of 249g/km are the impressive performance characteristics of the fastest car produced by the auto giant.
