Another Beauty From Alfa Romeo At Geneva

Alfa Romeo is set to exhibit its drop dead gorgeous drop top at the 78th Geneva Aoto show in March 2008. The Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is the drop top version of the Alfa Romeo Coupe Competizione. This beauty arrives at Geneva having already picked up a number of awards on its way and is set to break a lot of hearts as Alfa Romeo plans to produce only 500 pieces of this model.

The 8 C Spider has been the winner of the“Villa d’Este Design Award” and the “BMW Group Design Award”, at the 2006 Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance, held on Sunday 23 April in Cernobbio, on Lake Como, where it was exhibited as a concept car.

This elegantly sporty car has a powerful 8 cylinder 4.7 liter engine which will produce a whopping 450 horsepower with an automatic six-speed gear-box.

While adapting the Competizione coupe, the 8C Spider was fitted with a soft top which in itself is made of two layers, an outer tough multilayer fabric to weather the elements with durability and an inner layer that will make it snug, sound proof and comfortable.

The car has undergone extensive computer modeling and wind tunnel testing to ensure that it is aerodynamically sound and impeccably sturdy at high speeds.

The 8C Spider and the Competizione will mark the reentry of Alfa Romeo to the U.S. market this year and will be priced at around $250,000.
