Audi breaks sound barrier with new in-car entertainment system
Audi has added another innovation to its design. An advanced in-car entertainment system, which does not need iPods, CDs and MP3 players. The latest Audi Multi Media Interface (MMI), with new integral hard drive can store 4,000 tracks internally, enough for long holiday journeys.
The new system offers:
- ‘Jukebox’ option to store music files on hard drive by downloading them via SD card
- iPod control via header unit in combination with optional Audi Music Interface
- Hard drive containing intricately detailed navigation maps with 3D digital views
- DVD playback facility, with optional DAB digital TV and radio reception
By combining a music interface with MMI, an iPod or any music device can be remotely controlled using the central MMI control knob which is provided with built-in joystick and 4 push buttons around it. Tracks and title listings can be viewed on the in-dash screen and can be scrolled through or selected in a way similar to using an iPod. The system offers a well acclaimed navigation system, accessibility and clarity.
The high-tech drive has an overall capacity of 40 GB, of which 10 GB is for 4,000 songs in the ‘mobile jukebox’, which can be loaded with the help of SD memory cards.
The new hard disk has enhanced the mapping quality of Audi Satellite Navigation System Plus, offering 3D ‘digital topographical’ views, giving a pictorial depiction of key landmark’s.
Audi UK has gained exceptional prominence in the premium sector, since year 2000. It is continuing with high performance despite of downturn in the market by penetrating into new segments.
