Audi completes 2 decades of its land mark journey
In the midst of thundering applause, the Prime Minister of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Günther Oettinger and Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler steered the 250,000th luxury saloon Audi A8 L 2.8 FSI from the assembly line. The landmark event was witnessed by the veterans from politics, industry, commerce and media.
Rupert Stadler described Audi A8 as the flagship of Audi range which symbolized highest quality and innovation leadership. He reminded that Audi A8 made a major contribution to luxury-class market and represented a true success story.
Prime Minister Oettinger credited the Audi A8 success to the technological competence and performance potential of trained people in Neckarsulm. He termed Audi A8 as the force to reckon with in the top car category in the automobile market.
Audi, with its location in Baden-Württemberg, started manufacturing of Audi V8 luxury saloons 20 years ago. Model name V8 meant the car powered by an eigth-cylinder engine. Combing of this engine with all-wheel drive enhanced car’s dynamic performance with the road safety. The Audi A8 had attractive design, and innovative light weight aluminium body. Even today Audi A8 is the only top class car which has all-aluminium body and all-wheel drive. Its CO2 emission is only 199 grams/km.
