Audi introduces supercharging in V6 TFSI model
Audi has introduced ’supercharging’ in its V6 TFSI, the result being instantaneous response and a higher fuel economy. Audi had used this forced induction previously in the Auto Union models during 1930s.
The Audi A6 3.0 TFSI delivers 290PS and a peak torque of 420Nm at 5,000 rpm. Its output is closer to the output of the 4.2 V8 model and is available in range of 2,500rpm to 4,850rpm. Its tiptronic automatic transmission feeds high power smoothly and the latest Quattro system, provided as standard for A6 and V6 models, distributes it in favour of rear wheels to the extent of 40 to 60%. It powers to 62mph in 5.9 seconds. The top speed is limited electronically to 155mph, which is Audi’s design specification for most of the high performance models.
The use of FSI technology lends the Audi model high fuel economy. The 3.0 TFSI achieves 30mpg in a combined cycle test. CO2 emissions are 219g/km, an improvement of 15% compared to the 3.2-litre V6 Quattro model.
The use of latest direct injection technology in the new 2.0-litre, 136PS TDI engine further improves performance of the new model. The common rail system, optimised with piezo injectors, imparts improvements not only to the fuel economy and CO2 emissions, but also makes the drive smooth and comfortable.
