Audi UK defies depressed market trend, registers increase in sales
Audi UK has defied a depressing trend in the market by recording a sales increase of 1% in September. This is in contrast to an overall market decline of 24% when compared with September 2007.
With the fact that entry into the new segment helps in maintaining brand momentum, Audi posted sale of 16,457 new cars in September 2008. YTD sales reached 84,916 mark with anticipation of modest increase in the full-year 2008. This achievement is significant in the backdrop of declining sales by other companies.
Audi’s UK director Jeremy Hicks was very delighted with the results achieved against all odds. He remarked that his belief about sustenance of performance by the new models TT TDI and A3 Cabriolet in September was not unfounded. At the same time he admitted that market was very tough and next 12 to 18 months would be more challenging. Hicks claimed that a new and fast expanding range was giving an edge to Audi in most turbulent times.
Audi has expanded its range from 12 models in 1998 to 27 in 2008. 5 new additions will further expand its range next year and open up new market territory for Audi.
Audi gained rapid prominence in the premium car sector and has constantly set new sales records since 2000. It crossed 100,000 sales milestone in the year 2007 successfully.
