Brilliance By Pininfarina
The Chinese markets are running high on everyone’s minds these days. Most car manufacturers have shifted focus to these booming markets and are designing cars and car ranges which are more suitable for these markets. Jumping right onto this bandwagon is Italian coach-maker Pininfarina. It has just designed three vehicles- the Brilliance BS4 station wagon and Anhui Jianghuai’s (JAC’s) A108 and A107. These three models are scheduled to be displayed at the Beijing Motor Show this month. The cars will also be available for sale in European markets.
The Brilliance BS4 station wagon is designed on the lines of the Junjie sedan, which was also designed by Pininfarina for its Chinese partner Brilliance. With smooth, sleek lines and a decidedly sporty feel, this car will be aimed at the niche market for Junjie.
JAC, formerly known as Anhui Jianghuai, has two cars designed for them by Pininfarina. These are the first cars that the two companies have built together, ever since their collaboration in 2005. The A108 is a sedan, while the A107 is a five-door hatch back.
Pininfarina, known best for its collaboration with Ferrari, has partnered with a whole host of Chinese car makers, including Chery, Changfeng, and Hafei, which brings the total of cars designed by Pininfarina for the Chinese markets, up by a further 7. Chery will also display two of Pininfarina’s designs, the A3 Jiaoche and the A3 YunDong, at the Beijing Car Show.
Pininfarina is just one among the many car makers capitalizing on the up and coming Chinese markets. In fact, they claim that 30% of all its designing and engineering work is now carried out for their Chinese clients.
