Computer equipped Vans from Ford

With a 40% command over the US commercial vehicle market Ford aims at keeping its lead by adding newer gadgets and upgrades to its F-150 range. Ford Motor Co. is adding a lot more spunk and functionality to its pick-up and commercial vans with its factory installed Work Solutions package. The optional package will offer customers a computer with a 6.5-inch touch screen powered by Microsoft Windows CE and Windows Autos. The computer will be backed with high-speed Internet access and a battery-powered inkjet printer. It will also include a radio-controlled tool tracking device known as the Tool Link system which lets owners mark and scan their tools using a radio tag. The factory-installed computerized management system is designed to help workers keep track of their vehicle fleets. The package even offers a vehicle management system that pinpoints the location of vehicles and keeps track of maintenance (it evens checks tire pressures). Customers will not be concerned about theft anymore as they can lock valuables in the pickup bed using a retractable steel cable. Customers planning to buy the E-series vans and Transit Connect commercial vans can even avail of this multi-utility package. The fully equipped vans are scheduled to hit the market this summer
