Ford Europe records 16.9 per cent jump in its sales
Ford Europe sold a record 1,003,700 vehicles in 51 markets in the first half of 2008.
Vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ingvar Sviggum, of Ford Europe, declared that crossing one million sales in six months reflected on customers’ confidence in Ford’s products. He expressed pleasure over increase in its market share to 8.8 percent in spite of general slowdown and challenging economic scenario.
Ingvar Sviggum is confident of Ford Europe’s further improvement in its market position with the arrival of Kuga compact crossover and commencing of the all-new Fiesta production next month.
Ford Europe’s top-selling models across 19 Euro markets in June included the Focus (33,200 units), Mondeo (14,300 units) Fiesta (30,600 units), and Kuga 2,800 units.
The Fiesta led in Italy with sale of 6,700 vehicles, giving Ford Europe a market share of 7.9 per cent. S-MAX, C-MAX and Fiesta were among the best selling cars in France.
Britain topped all the markets of Ford Europe in June with sale of 37,200 vehicles and market share of 15.3 per cent.
Sales in Germany recorded 16.9 per cent increase to 23,900 vehicles, while sales in France rose by 9.5 per cent to 15,700 vehicles. Sales in Russia and Turkey increased by 19.8, and 3.8 per cent respectively. The jump was phenomenal 39.4 per cent in 30 European Direct Markets.
