Ford Kuga passes Euro NCPA tests, gets best overall rating

Ford Kuga compact crossover has passed Euro NCAP safety tests and bagged Adult Occupant Protection rating. It got four stars for Child occupant Protection and three stars for Pedestrian Protection. According to Joe Bakaj, Vice President, Global Product Programs, Ford Motor Company and Product Development, Ford of Europe, Ford Kuga is a high safety, high performance car. The Euro NCPA approval is the validation of their internal testing procedures and results. High safety was the priority for the Kuga’s development engineering teams, with Ford’s Intelligent Protection System (IPS) as the basis.

High strength steel (HSS) used in the manufacture of Kuga, makes it a rigid and lightweight passenger car. It enhances frontal and side impact protection. The use of dual phase steel in key areas adds to the integrity of passenger cell without affecting fuel economy and performance.

The front axle sub-frame system of Kuga decouples from the body structure in the event of a frontal impact. The Kuga passed all the side impact tests as per Euro NCAP standard. Kuga’s intelligent protection system includes air bags for all occupants, anti-submarine seats and height adjustable headrests. Front seats are made further safer with provision of pre-tensioners for safety belts and limiters for loads.
