Honda Civic Hybrid bags Green Gadget of the Year award
T3 magazine’s readers voted Honda’s Civic Hybrid as the Green Gadget of the Year for its excellent fuel economy and low emissions. The award was presented to the company at T3 magazine’s annual award ceremony.
The innovative petrol-electric drivertrain of the Honda Civic Hybrid provides high fuel economy of 61.4mpg and lowest 109g/km CO2 emission, entitling it to exemption from the London Congestion Charge and a reduction of £15 in road tax, which would be zero effective April 2009 for the Civic Hybrid.
Honda’s UK head of marketing, Tom Gardner attached high importance to the award since it was voted by readers of the magazine. He described it as great endorsement for Honda’s commitment to green innovations and hoped that there would be many more occasions in future as well.
The Honda Hybrid has been given a facelift with cosmetic changes in car appearance. A new front bumper incorporating fog lights lends a somewhat aggressive appearance. The headlights are provided with smoke chrome surrounds and the grilles are redesigned with close resemblance to new Accord.
Newly-designed 15-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels have replaced existing alloys. The new Civic Hybrid would now be available in nine colours including metallic paint colours – Premium White, Crystal Black, Urban Titanium and Polished Metal. The car is being offered with 8 year warranty on battery pack. The order booking with price starting from £17,490 onwards has already started.
