This year you can save the planet whilst driving a top-end car. The world’s first hydrogen fuel cell car, Honda FCX Clarity was launched in Europe to make motoring environment friendly. The car is designed for the progressive drivers who seek zero emissions and eco friendly auto solutions.

The FCX has a 171 litre tank that feeds hydrogen into the fuel cell stack. Here it combines with atmospheric oxygen to produce electricity creating water as a by product. This makes the car as green as possible. Extra power is stored in a lithium ion battery.

Although a car’s green level is determined by its hydrogen source, Honda states that CO2 emission from natural gas is less than half of the emissions from petroleum or diesel.  Besides its earth friendly virtues this model is spacious and luxurious. The car is equipped with advanced safety features like the navigation system with hydrogen station locations, collision mitigation brake system, a rear view and much more.

The FCX Clarity is said to be able to cover 270 miles on one tank. The only hindrance would be filling up with hydrogen. Honda is said to be working with three major oil companies to reduce the difficulty of finding hydrogen. Honda has also pledged to produce a home energy centre that will utilize domestic natural gas to provide energy for your car and home.
