Kia Motors bags Car Maker of the Year award
Kia Motors (UK) Ltd. has been declared Car Maker of the Year in 2009 Awards by the leading magazine AM.
BBC News anchor Huw Edwards, while presenting award to the Managing Director, Paul Philpott of Kia Motors (UK) Ltd. praised the company for its ‘clear strategy’ and strong dealer relationship.
The AM Awards are judged by the panel of judges comprising of industry analysts and experts headed by editor Stephen Briers. These awards reflect excellence in motor trade based on views from UK motor trade itself. Kia faced tough competition from BMW, Audi, Suzuki, MINI and Jaguar who were in the race for the prestigious title.
Edwards, speaking at Awards function, mentioned that impressive growth despite market downturn, building of strong relationship with dealers and launching of new products were making Kia a mainstream brand with high potential.
Managing Director Philpott informed that entire team of Kia Motors (UK) remained focussed on delivering sustainable and strong growth to its dealers and company’s business.
The team deliberately redirected its efforts in strengthening retail offering and withdrew from high levels of short-term and daily rental business that paid off in 2008, Philpott elaborated. He said that focus on this was continuing and Kia was determined to develop strong dealer partnership and to achieve profitable growth in future.
