KIA Showcases Three Concepts At Geneva
Korean car makers Kia have exhibited three concept cars at the 78th Geneva Motor show which are part of their SOUL series. With their eyes firmly on the youth market, these three concept cars have a distinct personality and market.
The three concept cars, namely, The SOUL Diva, SOUL Burner and the SOUL Searcher were designed by Kia’s Europe design team with the supervision of Kia’s Chief Design Office, Peter Schreyer.
The Kia Soul Diva is aimed at the hip and trendy woman and is designed to be an extension of her wardrobe, more like an accessory. The focus is strongly on aesthetics, with its full length tinted glass roof, fake leather seats with a quilted look so that they resemble sofas to lounge on, and a lovely textured floor carpet.
The SOUL Burner in the meantime is this whole aggressive, attitude-y car that sports mean dragon motifs on its exterior. The colours chosen are also all right on for this image, the only colour used is black with hints of scarlet. The front bumper s fitted with day light LED driving lamps that are L-shaped With a clear cut colour split in the interior horizontally half way up, the Burner is done up un red all the way above the split and in black below it.
Kia’s SOUL Searcher can be regarded the anti thesis of this car, at least on the basis of its image and personality. This calm car is for those who prefer the spiritual to the flashy and is made with Koran and Far Eastern concepts of Zen and tranquility. With muted colours, a comfortable leather finish on the bonnet, the folding roof, dashboard and steering wheel rim. The palette used is grey beige and exudes casual comfort.
Besides these, Kia has also got two eco friendly concepts on display. This is called the eco_cee’d series and are modeled along the the preceding Kia cars pro_cee’d and cee’d five door hatch back. The cars hope to achieve lower carbon emissions and better fuel efficiency. The emissions are down to 104g/km (a reduction of 17%) and fuel economy is 3.9 liters/100 km.
