Opel Insignia conferred with Euro NCAP Safety Test Award
The Opel Vauxhall Insignia scored 35 points out of 37; and bagged five stars for adult occupant rating in the European Traffic Institution’s Euro NCAP Safety Test. It bagged four stars for child protection and was awarded two stars for pedestrian protection. These were the best ratings ever awarded to a vehicle in the large family car segment. Insignia’s head rests were already recognised by the institute for protection against whiplash.
The Managing Director of Opel, Hans Demant, who is also the Vice President of Engineering for General Motors Europe, claimed that Insignia was designed, engineered and built to become the safest car on the road. The Euro NCAP Test score validates its technical capability for safety issues. He went on to add that 59 European journalists praised Insignia by rating it “Car of the Year 2009”.
The occupant restraint system and body structure of Insignia meet all the present and anticipated standards of crash safety all around the world. It offers optimal protection ‘real life’ conditions.
The safety features include 8 air bags, active front head restraints and double belt tensioners. Insignia also offers ABS with variety of assistance functions, ESP+ and adaptive brake lights.
