Peugeot takes steps to contain CO2 emission
Peugeot is the strongest supporter of global drive to contain CO2 emission. It has captured the lead position in the French market by offering 72 versions of vehicles which control CO2 emission. The efforts are on globally to meet the requirements arising out of legislations, which many countries in the world are enacting to curb pollution of all sorts, including vehicular pollution. Peugeot is the major drivng force behind the cause of green revolution.
The 72 versions of Peugeot vehicles emit less than 130g of CO2 per kilometre. This has enabled Peugeot to gain market share of 30 per cent in the segment of 121 – 130g of CO2/km. It enjoys market share of 23.2 per cent in the segment of vehicles with 101-120g CO2/km emission. In France, 4 out of 10 vehicles that registered best sales from January to May 2008 are the Peugeot models, emitting less than 120g of CO2/km.
The efforts in the designing of new models are primarily focussed on reducing green house gases and enhancing fuel efficiency to provide some relief to the car owners from the sky rocketing fuel costs.
