Proton’s LPG run model will offer 40% saving in fuel
Proton is offering two dual fuel models in its GEN-2 range which will run on either liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or petrol.
The rising petrol and diesel costs have made LPG an attractive alternative for car users. The LPG-based models can save up to 40% on fuel cost in spite of slightly higher consumption. In order to convert existing petrol run car to LPG, it costs £1,500 to £2,000, but buyers of Proton’s new ecologic GEN-2 will be getting it at exactly the same price of petrol-based model, reaping the benefits of cost saving from day one.
Based on an average mileage of 10,000 miles per year and prices of LPG and petrol at 58p and £1.12 respectively, a motorist would save over £500 annually.
Proton is offering 3 years RAC cover and 3year/60,000miles total vehicle warranty at no extra cost when purchasing the factory-fitted LPG conversion.
Around 140,000 vehicles in the UK and 11 million worldwide currently run on LPG, indicating its wide acceptance as an economical fuel alternative.
Proton ecoLogic owners would also benefit from its increased residual value which is 7.4% higher than the petrol equivalent, as reported by a fleet company.
Proton ecoLogic GEN 2 is both economical and eco-friendly compared to diesel and petrol run vehicles. It produces 15 to 20 % less carbon dioxide compared to petrol. GEN 2 ecoLogic starts on petrol and within 20 seconds switches to LPG, without making any noticeable difference in the performance. It has a 1.6 litre engine and comes in saloon or sporty hatchback versions.
