PSA Peugeot Citroen and Bosch enter into strategic partnership

PSA Peugeot Citroen and Robert Bosch are entering into strategic partnership over deployment of diesel hybrid technology. An agreement signed by two partners calls for co-development, manufacture and supply of power electronics and electric motors by Bosch for  PSA Peugeot Citroen’s diesel hybrid power-train.

This innovative technology which was unveiled at Paris Motor Show will equip Peugeot and Citroen cars in 2011.

Diesel hybrid technology is part of PSA Peugeot Citroen’s strategy for clean environment. PSA Peugeot Citroen has taken up development and industrialisation of this technology as a challenge. It has chosen a core partner with sole objective of rapid introduction of hybrid diesel vehicles in European market.

Bosch, which is one of the leading manufacturers of automobile equipments, would be supplying most of the components for hybrid diesel power-train.

Bosch, as per the agreement, would supply high voltage alternator, rear electric motor and power electronics to control motor and alternator. Bosch would also deliver ABS (antilock braking system) and ESP (electronic stability programme) to improve energy recovery.

The hybrid power-train’s operations would be optimised through strong collaboration between design and engineering teams of two partners. This strategic partnership is demonstration of PAS Peugeot Citroen’s confidence in Bosch and its commitment to establish strategic relationships with suppliers over long period.

PAS Peugeot Citroen believes that its approach of bringing technological innovations quickly and cost effectively can significantly minimise CO2 emissions.
