Renault goes one step further to cut car power draw

While talking about electric cars, Renault happens to be one of the few auto manufacturers that are concerned about energy consumption of auxiliary functions. They have shown their concern by the introduction of electric city car ZE that stands for Zero Emissions. You have got to hand it to Renault for taking its efforts one step ahead to save power.

A very innovative concept, the ZE has a 70kW electric motor that is able to produce 166lb-ft of torque from a lithium-ion battery. The car also has white plastic seating and brings in the power to run the radio and air conditioning. The company has said that to lessen the energy to run this kind of equipment, special attention has been paid to the design of the car which includes acid green tinted glass, heat reflected paint and insulating bodywork.

It is also said that the car has solar panels fitted on the roof to power the car’s temperature regulation system. The car has LED illuminated headlights and instead of airflow hindering mirrors, it uses cameras. The ZE is designed from Renault’s Kangaroo Be Bop and is expected to start a full scale production three years from now.
