Renault group registers 4.7 per cent growth in worldwide sales

In May 2008, Renault group recorded increase of 4.7 per cent in its worldwide sales of 219,801 vehicles including PC and LCVs. This is up by 1.1 per cent compared with 2007. In Europe the market shrunk by 7.3 per cent, but the group’s sales were just down by 0.7 per cent in May. Renault remained at number two position for PC and LCVs sales for the second consecutive month. It was an impressive  performance in France where it saw 17 per cent jump in registrations in May, consolidating Renault’s number one position in the country with 25.4 per cent of market share.

With record sale increase of 48.55 per cent in Netherlands, 10 per cent in Belgium, 8.5 per cent in Switzerland and 3.9 per cent in Austria, Renault’s performance is highly impressive. Its models New Twingo, New Laguna and Laguna Estate are selling in big numbers.

Laguna GT launched this month has also been well received by the market. Sales of Clio Estate, Kangoo car and Grand Modus were also buoyant. However, sales of Dacia were down by 18.3 per cent in Europe compared with the high levels of 2007.
