Smart fortwo new model with micro hybrid drive
Launch of smart fortwo model with micro hybrid drive technology is going to further enhance environmental compatibility and make driving more enjoyable.
Micro hybrid drive has become standard feature of the 61hp and 71hp iconic smart fortwo models from November 2008.
Micro hybrid drive is an automatic start & stop function which makes high savings in fuel consumption, up to 24%, and brings down CO2 emission to 103 grams per kilometre.
The micro hybrid drive system comes into operation during idling phases of engine. It stops the engine as soon as driver applies brakes and smart’s speed reaches 5mph or below. The engine restarts instantly after release of brake pedals.
Driver is not required to do any additional manoeuvring in start stop function. The system works in conjunction with smart’s manual transmission with the help of powerful starter generator.
The driver can deactivate micro hybrid drive system using a switch fixed on the console unit until starting the car next time.
The spacious cabin has also been renovated with redesigned instrument cluster, enhanced LCD display and net storage pockets on all the doors. Interior trim has been changed to ‘rally red’ paint finish.
15 inches, six-spoke alloy wheels (optional) and exterior with elegant ‘grey metallic’ finish make smart fortwo more glamorous.
The micro hybrid variant, priced from £7,060, is available as a cabrio and a coupe.
