Ten cylinder Audi R8 V10 sends shockwaves
Audi has stunned sports car manufacturers yet again with new Audi R8 V10, 525PS, 196mph, ten-cylinder, four-wheel car which has won the hearts of thousands of the UK enthusiasts.
The prestigious project which was eagerly awaited after launch of V8-powered R8 will conclude with opening of new super car’s order booking in the UK from January 2009. With first delivery in the next spring, it will be costing £99,575 OTR (manual form) or £104,665 OTR with sequential shift transmission.
Audi R8 V10 is equipped with 5.2-litre FSI V10 petrol engine. It is housed longitudinally right behind the cockpit and has construction identical to Audi R8 LMS. It weighs 1,602kg and has power-to-weight ratio of 324PS/tonne. Powered at 525PS at 8,000rpm and 530Nm peak torque at 6,500rpm this highly efficient engine accelerates Audi R8 from 0 to 62mph in only 3.9 seconds. With R-tronic transmission it accelerates to 124mph in just 12 seconds and attains unprecedented high speed of 196mph.
Audi engineers have been successful in achieving weight distribution of 44% front and 56% rear for optimum handling balance. Audi’s magnetic ride damper system continuously monitors driving style and road conditions and responds accordingly.
Everyday usability of V10 version is as commendable as that of Audi R8. High quality interior fixtures and space afforded by 2.65-metre wheel base makes V10 finest super car ever built.
