The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 to be unveiled at Chicago auto show

The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 - the fourth & final installation of the LX-platform, which birthed the 300C Magnum & Charger – is going to be unveiled in February 2008 during the much awaited Chicago auto show.
The ‘reborn’ Challenger, if one is to say so, will appear almost 38 years after its namesake made a dazzling debut as a 1970 model. Dealers started taking orders in early December - with a price tag of $37,995 - ahead of spring deliveries.
Power is derived from the same 6.1-liter Hemi V8 that is found across the entire SRT range. A wheelbase about four inches shorter as compared to that of its brethren (116” versus 120 - seen originally when comparing LX production cars with the Challenger concept) indicates slightly lesser weight. As is the case with all SRT LX-based performance cars, you can well expect 4-piston Brembo brakes.
Overall speaking, exterior design cues are in keeping with the concept car that was seen originally at the Detroit auto show in 2006, albeit with some alterations.
The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will be unveiled at Chicago auto show, which is among the largest auto shows in North America. First staged in 1901, it has probably been held more times than any other similar scale auto expo on the continent. The year 2008 marks the 100th edition of the prestigious auto show. Location of the show is McCormick Place. The Auto Show utilises nearly 1.3 million sq ft of the complex. It offers nearly 2.7 million sq ft of exhibit halls along with an additional 700,000 sq ft of meeting room availability.
