The European anti-trust approves Bosch & Mahle joint venture

Robert Bosch GmbH and MAHLE GmbH have been approved by the European ant-trust authorities to form a joint venture for exhaust gas turbochargers. The 50/50 joint venture allows for the development, production and sales. The new company named as “Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems GmbH & Co. KG” will go into business beginning 2nd of June, 2008.

The joint venture’s head office will be located at Stuttgart. Company’s activities of development, administration and sales will be carried out by 100 strong staff, half drawn from each parent company. Plants at the existing locations in St. Michael ob Bleiburg, Austria, and Blaichach/ Immenstadt, Germany, will commence the production of exhaust gas turbochargers early 2011. 500 employees at these plants will manufacture high quality major components and carry out assembly of turbochargers.

Dr. Martin and Dr. Andreas Prang, managing directors of the new company, are convinced that Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems will emerge as a dependable partner to the international automobile industry. Dr. Prang, in-charge for manufacturing, purchase and quality, is anticipating increasing use of exhaust gas turbochargers in gasoline engines in future. Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems regards its new product as the key technology for reduction of CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
