The Smart for Two faces Competition From Toyota iQ

The urban car Smart For Two will soon face competition from The Toyota iQ. The Toyota iQ had been showcased in last year’s Frankfurt car show as a concept car and though Toyota claimed that a car like this would be perfect for urban settings is North America and Europe, it had not given any details about production plans at that time. The car however, will be launched this year at the Geneva motor show.

Being 2.98 m, the iQ is about a foot longer than the smart mini car, this offers the possibility for 3+1 seating as opposed to the strictly two seater Smart. The +1 is taken care of by the asymmetrical dash board that allows the front seat to be pulled forward, making space for another adult or a child to be seated in the back.

Though no official statement has been issued yet, this ultra compact and space efficient iQ, is believed to have a gas engine in the range of three to four cylinders.

This car combining edgy design with a intelligent solutions to urban problems, is slated to start sales in Europe late this year. There are no immediate plans for its sale in North America.

Other Aspects:
Export to Sweden&Scandinavia.
