Toyota and General Motors shine at Automotive News World Congress
Toyota and General Motors shared the spoils by winning Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards of R. L. Polk & Co at the just concluded Automotive News World Congress. General Motors won the prestigious ‘Overall Manufacturer award’ for demonstrating an unmatched ability of retaining its previous customers. Toyota also emerged as a major winner, grabbing top honours in the important ‘Overall Make category award’ for its feat of notching the highest ‘make loyalty’ to an automotive division. Toyota was also recognised with five different segment loyalty awards.
Overall from the industry’s point of view, make loyalty in the U.S. market for the 2007 model year (in terms of repeat purchase) was around 44.84 per cent. Recent studies done by Polk demonstrate that customers are more loyal to Asian brands (close to 48 per cent as compared to their European counterparts (38.13 per cent and even domestic U.S. makes (close to 44 per cent).
The Automotive News World Congress is a unique automotive event. It’s a significant event held once a year wherein the most powerful and influential industry leaders converge from around the globe.
