UK award won by volvo technology

City safety system launched by Volvo has been designed to help drivers reduce or avoid the severity of low speed of urban collisions. Volvo thus won the fleet world honours in the category of technology in London.

City safety has been introduced as an exclusive feature in the Volvo XC60. This is a brand new car launched by Volvo and is going to hit the showrooms in UK by October.

This system uses laser sensor technology so as to detect vehicles which are up to ten metres from the front of the car and reacting to those vehicles which are moving slowly or standstill, in the direction you are moving. Now if the gap gets closer then the system automatically applies the brakes.

City safety has great potential to reduce car damage and personal damages. The insurance costs can be cut if this system works as per to the expectations. Volvo is even discussing this matter with the insurance companies so that they charge lower premiums.  According to the chairman of judges Volvo’s commitment to develop and research technologies has lead to a great number of milestones. Volvo not only offers safety benefits but also provides other operational improvements and financial benefits as well. It is a very happy moment for Volvo as they receive the award.
