UK firm develops electric sports car that outraces Jaguar XKR
A UK firm has successfully built an electric sports car which is likely to out perform all large engine sports cars in 0-60mph range. The new Electric Lightning GTS has four electric motors directly connected to wheels, which can run up to a top speed of 130mph with 700bhp. Its fast rechargeable battery provides a range of 200 miles.
The firm claims that the Lightning GTS’s performance is likely to beat high engine high performance sports car in 0-60mph category and the user will feel the sensation of power and performance when he gets pushed back in his seat by the sheer exhilaration of power during acceleration of speed.
Lightning GTS with no engine and just a maintenance free motor, a few parts and special batteries, will need minimal servicing as compared to other sports cars. The electric motors improve efficiency of the car since no sooner the brakes are applied they switch to generate power and recharge batteries. Recharging can also be done by using a standard home plug socket.
Priced at £130,000, the manufacturers claim that it will fetch savings of £17,000 a year to London’s petrol car users in the form of road tax, congestion charges and car and fuel taxes.
