Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion can achieve 74.3 mpg and CO2 emission of just 99/gkm
Volkswagen are going to be introducing the Golf BlueMotion concept vehicle, friendlier to environment, giving high efficiency performance and economy of the most efficient Polo BlueMotion vehicles currently on sale in the UK.
BlueMotion is the most efficient model in Volkswagen’s passenger car range. Since the debut of BlueMotion, Volkswagen launched various versions such as the Golf Estate, Golf Mk V, Golf Plus, Passat, Passat Estate, Jetta, Touran, and Sharan.
The Golf BlueMotion will be equipped with 1.6-litre, refined and efficient TDI common rail diesel engine. It is capable of 105 PS and torque of 184 lbs ft at 2,000 rpm; reaching 62mph from zero in 11.3 seconds, and attaining top speed of 117mph.
Golf BlueMotion incorporates a series of changes to aerodynamics and the drive-train to enhance vehicle’s efficiency. Low rolling resistance tyres, revised five speed gearbox ratios and optimised aerodynamics are the changes that will reduce the engine load to improve economy value, and minimise emissions.
The Golf BlueMotion engine is fitted with diesel particulate filter which is common with all diesel models. It sets new economy standards even in the non-BlueMotion form. The entry-level diesel Golf would have 2.0-litre TDI 110 PS common rail engine, emitting 119g/km and attaining 62 mpg on the combined cycle.
The new Volkswagen Golf will arrive for sale in the UK from January, 2009, followed by BlueMotion in mid 2009
