Volkswagen takes on virtual performance solution for improvements in development process
Volkswagen group finally relied on the Virtual Performance Solution software developed by ESI Group. The solution includes Pam-crash, Pam-safe products and FPM technology to stimulate crash, and safety. Application of the latest version 2008 accelerates the process of development for structural load cases. It is much easier now to stimulate as designed, as analysed, built and destroyed cases. ESI group and Europe’s auto giants are in close cooperation since 1986 in pioneering the crash simulation successfully.
Dr. Ralph Sundermeier, Head of Volkswagen’s Functional Calculation and Methods department is confident of vast improvements in development processe on account of VP solution. He calls it a quantum leap in simulation and hopes that as a result of shortened development cycle Volkswagen will further get a competitive edge in the automobile sector.
Vincent Chaillou, President and COO of ESI Group, is very much pleased with active support lent by Volkswagen in development of ESI’s software suite. He considers introduction of Virtual Performance Solution in development process as the expression of strategic partnership between two companies in last 20 years.
The solution has facilitated checking of safety and structural behaviour under simulated operating conditions in all phases of vehicle development.
