Volkswagen to present world premiere of Scirocco GT24 with 325 PS
Volkswagen is presenting a two day world premiere of a 239 kW (325 PS) version of the new Scirocco at the GTI Meet at Wörther Lake. A team of legendary drivers will then begin the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring using the sports version of the Scirocco. Volkswagen is simultaneously presenting the racing version of the Scirocco GT24 at the same venue. The blue white finish Scirocco GT24 sits low on its extended wheel wells. The gap is so small that even a hand will not fit between the tyre and the wheel arch. According to Dr Ulrich Hackenberg, Volkswagen Chairman for Development, with all these modifications the car still remains a Scirocco from all angles.
Legendary drivers world champion Carlos Sainz and Hans-Joachim Stuck, three-time winner of the 24-hour Nürburgring race, will be driving the 325 PS Scirocco in the race. It was in the year 1970 at Nürburgring that Striezel Stuck won the first 24-hour race. After 38 years it is the turn of the Scirocco GT24 to compete in the race.
Scirocco GT24 is fitted with 16-valve direct injection engine which draws power from 2 litres displacement. The engine which delivers torque of 340 Newton meters has a turbocharger and an intercooler. A dual clutch gear box facilitates execution of gear changes. This two-seat sport coupe continues to strike a chord with the car buyers and their enthusiasm with it remains uninterrupted.
