Volvo Cars find favour with Russian car owners
Volvo Cars are on an award-winning spree in Russia. The Russian car owners voted Volvo XC90 as the best crossover - “2008 SUV of the Year”. Volvo Car Russia’s PR Director, Alexei Kozhukhov, was very proud of receiving the award at a ceremony in Moscow.
The competition featuring 8 categories was organised by the Motoring organisation club 4X4. There were 101 models that participated in the competition where car owners registered their votes on website or through SMS. Out of the sixteen finalists Volvo XC90 was declared winner in “Full-size SUV” category. The award seems to have become the monopoly of this model since 2005.
Volvo Car Russia President David Thomas ranks Russia as the number for Volvo SUV sales in Europe and considers it the second most preferred market for Volvo XC90, after the US. He is looking forward to the launch of Volvo XC60.
The other awards that different Volvo models have won so far include Car of the Year award, Golden Klaxon (Horn) award and the Most Glamorous Car of the Year Award.
