Volvo introduces front-wheel drive in XC60 and XC70 crossover

2.4D engine and front-wheel drive introduction in Volvo XC70 premium estate and XC60 crossover would bring down CO2 emission to 159 g/km. This will make Volvo XC60 the first premium SUV falling below Writing Down Allowance threshold of 160 g/km for company cars. The award winning XC60 will thus become an attractive choice for Fleet Managers after adoption of threshold on 1st April 2009. Company car drivers will get benefited from lower Benefit-in-Kind taxation bills.

Front wheel drive and numerous improvements have enhanced model’s competitive fuel economy and low CO2 emission. Volvo engine experts have successfully reduced pump losses and friction in diesel engine and minimised pressure drop in exhaust and intake systems. Piezo-electric system has refined injection architecture. XC60 and XC70 engine has more efficient combustion, lower compression and latest engine management software. The turbocharger delivers high torque from low revolutions.

Highly optimised gear ratios make XC60 and XC70 drive more economical. The models have retained sporty driving properties of more horsepower, bigger torque and sporty chassis, rendering right driving dynamics.

Magnus Jonsson, Senior Vice President, Volvo Cars, claims that XC60 and XC70 are the perfect choice for those who expect low emissions without compromising on driving pleasure.
