Volvo links up with British designer to create travel bag
Volvo in its quest for design has sought services of renowned British designer Ilse Crawford of Studioilse to create weekend travel bag in contemporary upholstery leather. The luggage represents Volvo’s dedication for design aligned with Scandinavian style of Volvo’s aesthetics.
Ilse Crawford has many creations to his credit including Cowshed brand and Cecconis restaurant and award winning Soho House New York. His luggage design portrays Volvo values of versatility, style and luxury. Its colour reference is Nordic palett, chalk coloured leather with Swedish lining in red. Made in ventilated soft leather, it has side pockets for easy access to travel documents and papers. A separate bag is also provided inside the luggage for carrying delicate items or shoes.
Designing travel bag for Volvo was very personal matter for Ilse Crawford. He commented that being from a big family he spent early days of life in Volvo, going to school, going on first date, moving to house or going out and sleeping in the back. He had every range of emotions attached with Volvo.
The bag has wide padded strap, all-round zip and side pockets for easy packing and quick access. The fine Scottish leather supplied by Bridge of Weir for Volvo for more than 25 years has been used for luggage for the first time.
Anita Fox, Head of Marketing at Volvo Car UK commented that they were delighted to align with Ilse Crawford in producing high quality stylish bag which complemented modern Volvo cars so well.
