Volvo offers free safety checks for mechanical components and other units
Volvo is to provide a free safety inspection service to check mechanical components, control units and critical computers of its vehicles.
The safety inspection, worth £56 a time, takes about 40 minutes for the full test to confirm that the car still meets high safety levels, which were demanded at the initial production.
All Volvo motorists with car models of 1991 onwards can make use of the complimentary inspection offer at one of the 200 Volvo facilities in the UK, only if they are equipped with the VIDA (Volvo Information and Diagnostics for Aftersales) system. The offer is in place until 31st December 2008.
VIDA enables direct connection to Volvo Sweden for direct downloading of latest software upgrades to a motorist’s car. The system displays individual service actions which needed urgent attention on each car.
The safety inspection would involve:
- Inspection and upgrading of control units and critical computers.
- Direct connection to Volvo Sweden factory via VIDA for advice on system upgrades.
- Examination of mechanical components and recommendation of necessary repair.
Volvo customers are reassured that this inspection forms part of the ‘Volvo Service Programme’ which offers all upgrades.
Motorists could contact local Volvo dealers for more information and booking of free safety inspection.
