Volvo Showing XC60 Crossover at Geneva
Following close on the heels of its showing as a concept car at the Detroit Motor show in 2007, Volvo is ready with the production lines of the Volvo XC60 which will be showcased at the Geneva motor show in March this year.
Besides being as functional as every Volvo design always is, this one appeals to the aesthetics a lot ore than any other from the Volvo car has. With a sleek, muscular body that catches the light marvelously, the lower half sports 20 inch wheels and gives a mean sporty aggressive look while the upper half looks as sleek as a shining coupe.
The tailgate has a refreshing new design, elaborating on the C30’s glass boot lid, which is split into two for the XC60 so as to offer half the normal space while it is being opened.
The XC60 has a 3.2 liter engine that has been converted to run on bioethanol, making it a lot more environmentally friendly a tad bit better in way of performance.
Volvo expects this to be a tarmac drive, and has focused on safety with a system that they have called City Safety. This system tries to avoid low-speed impacts in city traffic by observing the speeds of the vehicles driving in front of it and will apply brakes automatically when needed, if the driver fails to do so. This will be the first vehicle to have such a feature.
Sporting an exciting glass top, a turbo charged inline six cylinder engine, the Volvo XC60 is expected to start sales in Europe in fall 2008 and in the U.S. in early 2009.
