Volvo unveils factory built Police car

Volvo unveiled its factory built police car at the National Association of Police Fleet Managers’ (NAPFM) Conference held in Cheltenham on September 2. The Volvo V70 was designed and developed in close co-ordination with the National Police Improvement Agency, Police Federation, users and NAPFM. The fully equipped V70 estate which would offer turn key solutions to the British Police Force, would be built in Torslanda, Sweden.

This is the first ever factory order for the frontline UK police car. Volvo is confident that it would deliver the Volvo V70 Turn Key police car within 14 weeks from receipt of the initial order.

All the elements of the car, including battenburg livery, radio prep/wiring, master control panel and light-bar are factory built. The options include surveillance video camera, VASCAR speed detection system and two dog-cages.

The car is built with tested police chassis, special 17.5 inch brakes, reinforced alloy wheels and self levelling suspension.

The car would be getting full aftermarket service from Volvo.

Taking into considerations all the suggestions of police forces, Volvo has delivered the car with a range of diesel, petrol and Flexi Fuel engines.

Volvo UK’s special vehicles manager, Sarah Tottle, is confident that Volvo V70 police patrol car would be a big hit.
