VW is rocking the Chinese Auto Market
Volkswagen AG is clearly riding the wave in the Chinese market. And do not be surprised if the German auto giant may retake the title of China’s biggest overseas automaker from General Motors Corp. Volkswagen will be unveiling five new and revamped models at the Beijing Auto Show which will kick off on April 20. With a display of 31 Volkswagen brand models the automaker is sure to be a crowd favourite. Two China-specific models and the Audi luxury sedan will make their world premier at the Beijing Auto Show this year. On the other hand, GM will be showcasing 42 of its finest vehicles at the Show. Other than the Cadillac CTS, Buick LaCrosse hybrid and Chevrolet Aveo, GM will have the world premier of the Buick Invicta (a luxury concept car). Since last quarter Volkswagen has been churning out newer and revamped models with gusto.
The first quarter was rewarding enough, in terms of sales, for Volkswagen, while GM is still trying to carve a niche. The auto giant is lacking due to the dearth of newer models. GM has been producing ingenious masterpieces but at a slower pace in the Chinese market. GM will still face stiff competition with the popularity of the Santana in China.
